    Spotting from T5

    Hey everyone,
I'm flying thru JFK on Mar 1st on the way to SXM on jetBlue and was wondering if anyone knows how the attitude is there as far as taking shots from the gate area of T5. Should I just ask for permission when I get there? I'd love to get some ramp shots as I haven't been at JFK in some time.
    Thanks,
    Gene

    Hey Gene,

When I typically travel to BOS from JFK on JetBlue, I always try to get a little terminal spotting in, and thus far I haven't had any major issues. Here are a few shots I was able to catch while waiting for my flight to depart. The glass is tinted as well. Depending where your gate you'll have a different view. You can get views of traffic on 13L-31R and 4L-22R as well as some ramp stuff. For the shots below I believe I used my 18-200mm lens.

Gene, never had a problem with photos at the glass... in any airport and I have used my big 200-400mm at times. The best is that at SXM, not a single person even bats an eye at some guy with a monopod and 200-400mm pressed against the glass LOL. And I was surrounded by people... no one, not one person said a thing to me.

In SXM, I tried to use a polarizer to reduce the reflections and I was met by some special glazing sandwiched between the plate glass window that made it worse! Same as they have in MIA :-( so I bought myself a Lenskirt for next time I need to shoot through glass...

I used to just drape a black T-shirt over my camera but this toy has suction cups and all... very nicely built and works great.
