I heard about "BIG A" going under too. Its too bad and we lose another operator of the DC-10. What a shame.
The ARROW old colors (90s) of APW's aircraft is my top 2 most favorite liveries the other being Ural airlines Old colors.
No matter what plane that livery was on it looked fantastic.
I was not a fan of the green livery and I felt they lost they image after that.
Hers a few of my shots of APW or "Big A" as they call themselves over the radio.
I manage to get one shot of Arrow L-1011 back in 2001 while i was in Miami

Holy Shnikies BATMAN!
Way to go Sergio.
How old were you when you shot that? Nothing like and old school shot.
You know at the rate we are going I think we could starting seeing DAL Cargo, United Cargo (Again)
American Cargo (again) etc etc. I don't recall seeing any new US based Cargo Startup for ages. It would seem the major airlines would get back into this very soon. Of not them Fedex or UPS with a massive monopoly on the routes in the US.

I was almost 19 years old when i shot that Senga...Originally Posted by SengaB

Oh ok that's cool.
Got anything else from Miami?
Man I loved the colors of both schemes. Sad to see another Cargo operator with classic jets fly into the sunset.
Aspires to become an Air Traffic Controller at Kennedy Tower.

That bizjournals article is actually full of factual and spelling errors. Here is an article with their corrections and a photo gallery...
NYCAviation:
 Photo Gallery: Arrow Air Ceases Operations After 63 Years of Service
Arrow Air, the Miami-based cargo carrier with a long history of cargo, passenger and even aircraft leasing operations, grounded their fleet on Wednesday, concluding several years of financial gloom.

Phil nice article and photo's. however one addition, Arrow also operated several 727-200's in both passenger and freighter service. Very sorry to see an airline with such a long and interesting history dissapear, perhaps a future investor will revive them.

Arrow Air has suspended operations and filed for Chapter 11 protection. It;s a sad day for all aviation enthusiasts in South Florida. Arrow Air's green DC-10s and B-757 were a great sight to see. Many would also remember them operation DC-8s until not too long ago. It is not likely that the company will survive this event.

That's crazy, biggest cargo airline at MIA goes under. I have a shot with about 8 green tails side by side DC-8/DC-10s. Miami will not be the same without those green tails. Yes the current Livery was so-so but the green will be missed. Years ago Arrow was merged with the other large Miami-based cargo airline Fine Air, and now both are no longer... who would have seen that coming.
Arrow was starting to get boring though. Twinjet 757s replacing the last regular DC-8s at MIA and I believe they had or were going to order the A332F -B-O-R-I-N-G- compared to the Douglas classics. They had too many planes. Should have downsized the fleet since the recession hit.
Sergio I agree with SEGA, I mean Senga. That L1011 hinie shot is gold!
Arrow Air brings back memories. I used to see their old D8s at JFK all the time many years ago then they suddenly stopped coming to JFK. I never saw any of their newer aircraft at JFK. Another 1 bites the dust!
Dang what a bummer to see Arrow go down....RIP Arrow you will be missed a MIA

Another odd one. This DC-8 was branded Arrow Panama:

There was a DC-8-62 with those same titles and long Panamanian reg.
Check out Senga's ramp shot above, no Panama titles but Panama reg and flag!
