Low-cost carrier SkyBus inaugurated 2x daily flights between Greenboro, NC (GSO) and SWF which will be operated by Airbus A319 aircraft. Greensboro will be the second destination for SkyBus from SWF.


February 15

Delta Air Lines inaugurated nonstop flights from JFK to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

 


February 14

AirTran Airways inaugurated flights from LGA to Tampa (TPA) and Daytona Beach (DAB) with Boeing 717-200. Both flights are seasonal and will end on May 5th.


February 8

EL AL switched terminals at JFK from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8 to strengthen new code-share agreements with American Airlines.


February 5

Air India inaugurated nonstop flights between Delhi (DEL) and JFK. Flights run daily with an ETA at JFK of 5:45am and a ETD of 4:00pm. Flights operat onBoeing 777-200LR aircraft.


February 4

Air India downgraded AI111/112 which operates BOM/DEL-LHR-JFK to a Boeing 777-200/300ER from the Boeing 747-400.


January 17

JetBlue Airways inaugurated nonstop daily flights from JFK to St.Marteen(SXM) in the Netherlands Antilles. Flights are operated by Airbus A320 aircraft and will use Terminal 4 at JFK for its US Customs facilities.


January 10

JetBlue Airways inaugurated nonstop daily flights from JFK to Puerto Plata (POP) in the Dominican Republic. Flights will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft and use Terminal 4 at JFK.


January 7

American Trans Air (ATA) discontinued all flights to LGA. ATA operated Boeing 737-300 and 737-800 aircraft to Chicago-Midway (MDW) and select charter destinations.


January 6

Low-cost carrier SkyBus inaugurated 2x daily flights between CMH and SWF which will be operated by Airbus A319 aircraft. SkyBus is the third low-cost carrier to announce flights to SWF in the past year.

JetBlue ended flights to Nashville and Columbus, OH.


December 24

MAXjet Airways announced Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and immediate ceasing of all operations immediately and returning their aircraft to the lessors.


December 20

Delta Airlines began flights to Port of Spain, Trinidad from JFK.


December 14

Delta Airlines began flights from JFK to Guatemala City, Guatemala.


December 13

Delta Airlines will begin flights to Panama City, Panama.

American Eagle inaugurated daily flights from LGA to Montreal (YUL) and Memphis (MEM) operated by Embraer-135 aircraft.


December 4

EVA Air of Taiwan launched direct flight
s from Taipei (TPE) to Newark (EWR). On the return leg flights have a stop in Anchorage(ANC). Flights are operated by a Boeing 777-300ER and run on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The ETA to Newark is 8:10pm and the ETD from Newark is 9:35pm. Eva Air formerly ran a 3x weekly 747-400 service via Seattle(SEA).



November 17


Malev suspended daily flights between Budapest (BUD) and JFK for the Winter season due to contracted leases for their Boeing 767 fleet. Malev will return to JFK on March 31, 2008.


November 15

Cathay Pacific added a third JFK-HKG flight using a 777-300ER, and switch one of their existing two flights to the same aircraft type.

 


November 10

The annual La Guardia Airline Collectible Show & Sale took place at the Marriot Courtyard from 9am-4pm.


November 7

AirTran Airw
ays added an additional flight from SWF (Newburgh) to PBI (West Palm Beach, FL) for seasonal purposes using a 717-200.


November 5

American Eagle ended 5xweekly flights to Bangor (BGR) from LGA. Flights did not run on Friday and Saturday and were operated by Embraer-135 aircraft.


November 4

American Eagle inaugurated 6xweekly flights to Flint (FNT) from LGA. Flights will not run on Saturday and areoperated by Embraer-135 aircraft.

Northwest Airlink inaugurated a daily flight to Des Moines (DSM), 6xweekly flights to Flint (FNT) which will not run on Saturday, and 6xweekly flights to Madison (MSN) which will also not run on Saturday. All flights are operated by Canadair CRJ-200 aircraft and originate from LGA.


 

October 28

American Airlines began flying to London's Stansted Airport from JFK, and plans to add a second daily flight in the Spring of 2008. The flight will use a 767-300 with 221 seats,  including 30 "Next Generation Business Class" seats.

Jet Airways began flights to JFK from New Dehli (DEL), with a stop in Brussels (BRU) using a 777-300 aircraft.

Lufthansa began flights from Frankfurt, Germany to JFK on a 737 with 44 seats in business class configuration.

Pakistan International Airlines reduced frequency on their flights from Islamabad to New York JFK via Manchester (MAN) to 2xweekly. Currently, Pakistan is running a 4xweekly frequency.


 

March 10

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Tel Aviv, Israel (TLV) with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

 


March 28

Emirates will be dropping their daily DXB-HAM-JFK sector operated by Airbus A340-500 aircraft. However, they will still keep DXB-HAM, which will be downgraded to Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The flight is being dropped in order to add the A380 to one of their current 2x daily nonstop flights to DXB.


March 29

Delta will be inaugurating 2x daily flights between JFK and London-Heathrow (LHR) with Boeing 767-300
aircraft. Delta will also retain 1x daily flights to London-Gatwick (GTW) from JFK operated by Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will upgrade their daytime flight from Amsterdam (AMS) to JFK to Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Currently KL641/642 is operated by a MD-11.

Continental Airlines is the next US airline that will be venturing into the busy Heathrow atmosphere with daily flights to LHR from EWR operated with Boeing 777-200 aircraft. Continental will keep their frequencies between EWR and London-Gatwick (GTW) but will downgrade the aircraft on the route.



March 30

Delta will bring their first 777-200LR into JFK from ATL to begin operating their JFK-BOM flights.



March 31

Delta will switch to the 757-200 on the JFK-ATL flight that used the 777-200.

Porter Airlines, based in Toronto, will be inaugurating their first scheduled flights to the US from their hub at Toronto City Airport (YTZ) to Newark (EWR) with Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.



April

Alitalia will be discontinuing flights between Milan (MXP) and EWR due to a scaling down of the airlines Milan hub. Flights will continue to operate to EWR from Rome (FCO). JFK will however retain both Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO) flights using 767-300s.

KLM will utilize their 777-300ERs on KL641/642 from JFK-AMS on Tuesday, arriving at 1520 and departing at 1830.


April 1

American Airlines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Milan, Italy (MXP) using Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

Israir will reinstate nonstop flights between Tel Aviv (TLV) and JFK with their new Airbus A330-200. Flights were suspended in January due to a lack of available aircraft.



April 5


Delta plans to
begin daily round-trip flights to Bermuda (BDA) from LGA on a 737-800.


April 6

Qatar Airways will upgrade their Doha (DOH) - Geneva (GVA) - Newark (EWR) flight to 6xweekly and will send an Airbus A330-300 on Sundays. Currently the flight operates 4xweekly with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.


April 7

American Airlines continues to add domestic frequencies from JFK and will be inaugurating flights to Tampa (TPA) with MD-83 and Boeing 757-200 aircraft.


April 8

American Airlines will discontinue their 2x daily LGA-TPA route, adding
the flights to the LGA-MIA, making that route 11 times a day. They will also suspend LGA-FLL flights for the summer, shifting it to a third LGA-MCO flight. In addition, JFK-TPA will be added to link with European departures using a Super 80.


April 22

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will upgrade KL641/642 to a Boeing 777-300ER on Tuesdays to fill a schedule gap.


April 24

American Airlines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Barcelona (BCN) with Boeing 767-300 aircraft.


May 1

Lufthansa will be replacing current A319 service, operated in an all business class layout, between Düsseldorf (DUS) and EWR with daily A340-300 flights.

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Edinburgh, United Kingdom (EDI) with Boeing 757-200ER aircraft.


May 3

Continental Airlines will be adding a second daily flight between EWR and Barcelona (BCN) for the upcoming summer season. Flights will run from May to October and will be operated with a Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Continental currently has 1 daily flight between the two cities operated by Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Continental upgraded flights between EWR and Madrid (MAD) last summer to 2 daily flights and will do so again this summer season.


May 5

The all business class airline Eos Airlines will be inaugurating flights between EWR and London-Stansted with 48 seat configured Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Eos currently flies between JFK and London-Stansted (STN).


May 6

AirTran A
irways will begin flying LGA-MKE using both their 737-700s and 717-200s. This new route goes head-to-head with Midwest, who also operates the 717 to MKE.


May 19

North American Airlines will ended all scheduled service in order to concentrate on charter operations. Their schedule route strucutred included flying between JFK and Georgetown, Guyana (GEO), and connecting BWI through JFK to Accra, Ghana (ACC) and Lagos, Nigeria (LOS).


June 2

Delta will be inaugurating 4x weekly flights between JFK and Paris-Orly operated by Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Dakar, Senegal (DKR) with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.


June 3

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate one stop flights from JFK to Cape Town, South Africa (CPT) with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. The flight stops briefly in Dakar, Senegal.


June 4

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Cairo, Egypt (CAI) with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.


June 5

Delta Air Lines will inaugurate nonstop flights from JFK to Houston (IAH) and Minneapolis (MSP) with CRJ aircraft.

KLM will be deploying their new Boeing 777-300ER to JFK from Amsterdam (AMS) on KL641/642 on Thursdays and Saturdays in addition to Tuesdays.



July

China Eastern will is to begin PEK-EWR service 7 times a week with 777-200 aircraft. (Source)







July 15

Delta will be inaugurating 1x daily flights between JFK and Lyon(LYS) which will be operated by Boeing 757-200 aircraft.



October 1


Middle Eastern carrier Emirates Airlines will be the first airline to bring the new "Queen of the Skies" to JFK. Starting on October 1st from Dubai (DXB). Emirates will be launching the A380 on EK201/202 with an ETA of 2:15pm and a ETD of 11:30pm.
