    AF1 spotting tips:

--When trying to capture shots of Air Force One, concentrate on AF1 and pay no attention to whatever JFK ops are doing nor to any other planes
--Use a scanner. Listen to NY Approach first. When she gets handed off to Final Approach or to Tower, switch accordingly.
--AF1 is usually much faster approaching the airport than any regular airliners. Times are compressed.
--Use LiveATC to listen to the departing airport and track her as much as you can via LiveATC.
--When she makes first contact with Approach Control, she will announce the RWY preferred. Unless a miracle happens, Tower will honor any runway requested. Likely arranged ahead of time and likely an SS agent is standing next to the Tower controller
--Get rid of family and ALL friends if you are really serious about catching her. Otherwise, follow one of the likes of Moose, Eric, Senga, Tom Turner, etc.

That is incorrect, I here the clearance given by the tower all the time.
It's hard to take chances but sometimes it's better if you do

I brought my mother over to Inwood Park on Monday to catch the arrival. There was a secret service car parked on the grass about 20 feet away from us and they never said a word, I'm beginning to think having her there helped my cause

I was actually at the Inwood Marina. Got some funny looks but nobody said anything until after AF1 had flown over. Not the greatest spot for shooting as the approach is pretty overhead. Next time I'll go to the park.

I just hope they are late. I have a meeting ending at 4:30 so it will be interesting to see if I can get there in time

I drove by the airport yesterday b/c I wanted to get a night photo of the Korea Air cargo 747 (I love the paint scheme), and while leaving, spotted the C-17. It took great restraint to not pull over and try to shoot through the fence.

AF1 late? Only Mark Z would have that kind of luck. But you would probably build a robot Manny to fill in for you, at the meeting.

Sounds like a 4L sweep, and it might be running a few minutes late!
