    Washington DC at Night

Heading up to NY this weekend, I had hopes of getting in town early enough to make the WWII Reenactment at Old Bethpage, but it was a long week, and 7 hours of driving in the rain meant stopping in Washington, DC for the night. That let me do a little shooting in the evening, and then I did something I've been wanting to do for a while - head out overnight (when the crowds were gone) to shoot some of the monuments.

These were from my first foray...

    Vietnam War Memorial

I always see photos (my own included) taken from straight on of the Lincoln Memorial, but I stumbled upon this view and really liked it.

Albert Einstein at the National Academy of Sciences. And yes, I saw people sit on his lap for photos.

As many times as I've wandered around the Lincoln Memorial, I never went around this side of it, but what a shot!

After a late dinner, and time to process the above shots, it was a little after 1am, and I headed back out.

3am, hanging with Mr. Lincoln. And yes, even then, I had to wait for people to get out of the shot...

    The WWII Memorial

    The Smithsonian

It was drizzling on and off all night, and then the fog really rolled in.

Finally called it quits around 5:30am, when it was clear we wouldn't get much of a sunrise. Breakfast at Mickey D's and some more processing, and I finally got to bed at 8am, 24 hours after I got up Saturday.

Nice shots Moose, I like the Capitol the best, especially since DC is pretty much in a fog politically, this just emphasizes that fact.
