    Tracking Santa

Once again this year, NORAD is tracking the travels of the big guy in the red suit as he makes his way around the world, delivering gifts to good boys and girls. What started in 1955 as a misprinted telephone number in a newspaper ad has grown into an annual tradition.

You can track his progress here:

Santa caused a JFK closure earlier after an aborted takeoff. Then he went AOG with an inop APU. Thankfully, American Airlines MX reps helped out. Can you imagine is Santa lost ETOPS status?

It is a little tricky but I've had worse.

Since I'll be busy the rest of the night I wish you all Merry Christmas and all a good night.

what's the story behind this. i've never heard it from a reliable source. was the misprinted phone number actually a number for a desk in NORAD moose?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Yes. The Commander's desk, to be exact.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Stopped by the Airpower Museum for a couple of quick photos on the way home from a Christmas Eve party. When I got home and took a look at them, you'll never believe who I happened to catch in the background!
