Last week, while in PHX for a race, I wanted to go photograph some slot canyons. I was going to drive up to the famous Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ. I was advised to skip Antelope because the crowds are massive and the photo opportunities will have people in them. Instead, the advice was to drive up to Kanab and visit the slot canyon there. The only way to access the canyon is via a Hummer or ATV. A pickup truck won't make it because the sand can be up to three feet thick in some spots. I found a local tour operator to take me out that way. Awesome tour, and I was the only person in the canyon. He let me shoot until I was ready to leave. If you are ever up that way, I would recommend taking Windows of the West Hummer Tours. Here are some of my favorite shots.
Driving in the middle of nowhere
I did the vast majority of my shooting with my Canon 6D, but while on the road, I used my SL1 for other snapshots. I love this thing more each time I use it.

Red Canyon Slot - also knows as Peekaboo Canyon
On the way back to Phoenix, I stopped in Page, AZ to shoot the Horseshoe Bend just after sunset when the lighting was even.
