Yesterday CBS 880AM Radio had a nice short interview with a retired Commander from the 747 SCA and he seemed very much still in touch with this project and he made it sound like the number 1 priority was protecting the Enterprise from rain and winds during the ferry flight so they would hold out for very good forecasted weather not borderline with their limits to assure the Shuttle arrives damage free. This seemed much more important than the date on the calender, I still say Friday tentative my 2 cents. LGA777
Friday seems to be the best date but spring weather is very unpredictable. Keep fingers crossed. Safety first!
WEDNESDAY has been cancelled.
Huge news.
Intrepid is now clearing the entire deck of its inventory to make room. The original mission has been scrubbed. Instead, the 747Shuttle piggyback pair will fly to NY.
Very exiciting new development! As we speak, the shuttle is being retrofitted with a hook for a deck landing on the Intrepid.
Then somewhere over the Hudson, the Orbiter will be air launched from the 747 and glided onto the deck and caught by the decades old barely functional arrestor cables. (In the event it skids past, real estate developers are keeping a keen eye on some new potential ground breaking right across the street from the carrier.)
We now return to your regularly random banter.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

EYE!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

the ferry flight is postponned until at least friday.
My information comes from Leon Panetta and the CIC himself.
Its all part of the stimulus plan. Should the arrestor cables not hold, we'll lose the orbiter but gain jobs and more building industry downtown.

if the weatherkeep acting like this till May 26 we can have the shuttle take part in theJones Beach Airshow....
Yeah !!! I'm glad to hear they're waiting for better weather and clearer skies on Friday !!!
I just wish they would have it arrive later in the day so that the sun would be lighting it from a good angle....
If I tell my boss ONE MORE TIME that I need to change my day off, I am gonna get fired :P
ugh!!!
