Just pulled into the airport to find a Cessna 172 N713RC on it's nose just off 19 south of the intersection. Appears to be another hard landing and gear collapse. Runway 14 is open. Pics tonight.

Wow. That's 2 in one week! How bizarre.
Maybe they should just install the cable arresting system on ALL runways and require all aircraft operating at FRG to have a tailhook. LOL
Fixed that for ya :) Quite odd to see 2 incidents in this quick of a time span. No injuries I'm guessing.Originally Posted by Speedbagel_001
We never saw an ambulance as part of the response team so one can assume that, thankfully, nobody was hurt. They had the whole thing cleaned up rather quickly.

I caught the tail end of the emergency response. The airport appears to be fully operational again.
Another weird thing is the last time there were accidents at FRG they both happened within less than 24 hours of each other.

Looks like the nose gear collapsed. Do you think it's a safety issue with the airport, or just bad luck?

I pulled into the main terminal lot right after it happened. It was a pleasure meeting Kenny & Joe today.
Here are a few of mine
Never did find the new Oracle Bi Plane however.

I was hanging around this afternoon and was noticing that a lot of the smaller planes were being battered around by the winds upon landing. I wonder if he caught a gust that drove him onto the runway.
EVERYONE IS THERE TO SEE THE SHERPA!
So it looks to me like there was minimal damage to both aircraft. What do you suppose it would it take to make them legally flyable again? What is the process the owner has to go through in such a situation? Obviously, what's broken will need to be repaired or replaced. But who makes the final determination that there is no hidden damage and that the aircraft is airworthy?
