I was at Bayswater Pk. the same day and caught some of the same stuff as Eric -- only taking off, not landing. Tried some extreme handholding with a 300/4 and a 2x converter. That pushes you up to ISO 400 in order to keep 1/1000 shutter, and on the D200 that's the upper ISO limit for my taste.
Anyway, here goes -- small size. At 1024 they begin to reveal some contrast and sharpness problems.
I think the problem is really the haze more than my handholding skills. But my next purchase is a TC-17 converter to see if it's any sharper than the 2x. And one of those creams that people put under their nostrils for autopsies in the movies, 'cause the fish stench at Bayswater can be a bit of a challenge.
