Yeah, that's truly sad...on another note, maybe we will see an Eastern GP40 soon.
1998 called, they want their website back.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
Wow, the new fleet is rolling stock! Guilford is the parent co. but the airline site is (was?) http://www.flypanam.com You can see the message about scheduled flight suspension there.
Sad but it's a brand that has no relevance to anyone except us airliner geeks, which is why all revival attempts based on 'brand recognition' have failed. Amongst the general public, you'd now have to be quite a bit over 30 years old to really even recognize it. There are people that remember Oldsmobiles, they might miss them too as they were once a top selling brand of car but it doesn't mean it would be a viable brand today.
As for the websites, clearly this is a company lacking for marketing funds. Working in small business, I can tell you there is often 'no money' for the website because of the need to pay operating expenses and such. It would have been nice though to see a well funded, better promoted PAA revival but I think that's been tried before. People like new and edgy brands like JetBlue, Virgin, etc. etc. Of course, a slicker site or image doesn't always help, Fly I had a pretty website and branding but it didn't save them.
If you want to see the loco's, the closest you'll find them is Waterbury, CT. It's a shame such a company with a big name has been turned into this. :(
