Sounds like the Thunderbirds just left and they are showing on flightradar heading to Colorado
Sounds like the Thunderbirds had issues both days. Yesterday (Sunday) I heard one and went outside. I live just north of Islip and was able to see them do their pitch up for landing but on Sunday...
So is Islip now spotter friendly? Looks like a good group along the fences
Oh wow, I swore it was just the one year. And I'm still pissed I missed the B-1. That's something different we need back in the show
Thunderbirds only used Republic in 2009, before that they used JFK.
My bad, thought you meant the other demo teams. That is odd though that the Growler demo is using Islip but AMM is having Growlers come in to Republic for static display
Shame the Thunderbirds are coming in late Thursday. Was hoping to head to the beach for circles
More about runway length.
Seems odd that they would take off from Republic and refuel at Islip
Didn't even hear them take off/land
One of them just left
They still have the tfr, maybe they are going up if there's a window for them with the weather
Unfortunately practice is canceled today due to weather
The F-35s came in a little around 5:40
Last time they were here and I saw them take off the went staggered one after the other, was cool seeing the diamond again. And the Supers are way louder than the legacy hornet
Drove by where the sky typers are parked and pilots were around/ in their planes in flight suits.
Pretty sure in years past it was for the duration of the show. Would have to imagine not only for safety of all performers but in case schedule had to be adjusted. I know Thursday circle and arrivals...
Good to hear about the Sky Typers. Not sure when they became sponsored by Geico but growing up going to see them at Republic in the late 80 early 90s they were just the Sky Typers.
F-117 is retired but would have been cool. Agree that it's the same performers each year but I just consider us lucky to even have one. Actually there's less performers this year. Sean Tucker is no...
Must have went a little early, just heard them.
Any word on the C-17?
Only 6 left, 2 more had canopies up
They are getting ready to go
No longer showing Thunderbird1, stopped saying they were about 14 minutes out
Just drove by MacArthur going down Smithtown. Thunderbirds weren't there but they have 3 tents set up and a row of minivans next to where they usually park. They have tape up blocking the grass
