Great read. I can relate to staying with the plane after the crew leaves. Theyre outta uniform and I'm waiting on a fuel truck and tying the blades down.

From my time at Bagram I can tell you that the take-off angle I witnessed was steeper than I was used to back home.
Correct.
For you rotorheads, not so sure we'll have any HH-60's for yas. Between phase dock and deployment its gonna be tough to free up the assets. I'll be there on my own time Sunday watching the sights.

Fred, do you mean gyroscopic precession and retreating blade stall? :D
SHAKE AND BAKE!!!
Cya's there.
There's the first plane I worked on, although these newer models are much different. Amazing how they can keep cramming new stuff in these Jets to keep them relevant.

They pulled the breaker. This is fuel for those who believe Flight Engineers should still have a place in the cockpit. Just another set of eyes on a checklist.
Hey all, haven't posted much in a while but I've been busy gearing up for a big change leading to a great opportunity. I've been hired to become an airborne radio operator on our HC-130's. I'm...

Hello, I haven't been out at the base in a few weeks but I remember from the Calverton Air Show they had a SCANG F-16 come by and make some noise. Nothing like a full demo. I live on the north shore...
I was working in Smithtown when I heard a noise of an acft I've never heard before. Sure enough, not too far over the trees comes a CV-22, much faster than a helicopter. Never seen an Osprey fly...
Is that Pavehawk #468? If so that's one of ours. It was the replacement to #110 lost in the Perfect Storm. As for the special helicopter, impressive. Never heard a thing about it. And if it hadn't of...
Cool stuff, the FD has wanted their own birds for a little while now haven't they? I know at least one Pilot and many FE's are City Firemen.
Sounds like the hoist was necessary for this rescue. Is NYSP so equipped?
