Red Flag 14-2 - Nellis AFB - March 2014

I attended the Red Flag 14-2 exercise last week at Nellis Air Force Base. In addition to the US squadrons attending, there were also aircraft from the Belgian Air Force, Danish Air Force and the Saudi Arabian Air Force. It was nice to see the B-52s with their smoky takeoffs and the F-35s were pretty badass too.

Is the drag chute for show, or is actually needed on the B-52? Cool pics, btw.

Thanks Idlewild. Each B-52 I saw over the three days popped a chute, so I would think it is necessary.
