All the cool companies are on Twitter, that is a fact. Occasionally, these companies decide to have a bit of a chat between each other on Twitter, and the conclusion of the first Airbus A350 was one of those moments. In the early morning hours of Friday, Airbus A350 “MSN1″ climbed into the skies over Toulouse for the very first time. The first flight, just days before the 50th Paris Air Show, is a huge milestone in the A350 program, which is the latest widebody aircraft in the Airbus family.

While I was waiting in ORF for my flight back to DCA (flew down for business) a nasty gail came through and caused some havoc on the ramp. A US Airways CRJ-200 that was en-route from BOS to RIC diverted to ORF and soon after the passengers had deplaned, the system came through - the winds moved the plane, blocks and all, and sent an AA baggage tractor from across the ramp right into the side of the plane. As the flight attendant from the flight later commented in the terminal "this was not what I expected when they said we were merging!"

Not terribly news worthy but it sure made for some exciting activity to pass the time at the airport.

Here's a photo I snapped from my phone - you can't make out the hole but it was below the cargo hold door on the left side.

From NY Post, what we already knew-

Terror-targeted JFK Airport has become a giant slumber party for some of its security guards — who regularly doze on duty at key posts, according to a former boss and damning photos obtained by The Post.

Although the airport has been at the center of at least one terror plot — and an embarrassing security snafu involving a jet skier last summer — these disturbing infractions seem to mean little to the cadre of guards who catnap on the job, says the ex-boss, Stephen Jackson, 39.

“It was a regular occurrence finding the guards sleeping,” said Jackson, a former manager for FJC Security, which employs about 300 security guards at JFK Airport.

Jackson, an ex-Marine, began working at FJC in August 2011 and became a security-guard supervisor at JFK in December. He was fired May 28 after what he calls a campaign of harassment over everything from his whistle-blowing to his being Hispanic.

The married Staten Island father of four said he typically supervised between 58 and 65 guards over an eight-hour shift at JFK — and regularly caught about six sleeping on duty.
The Transportation Security Administration is abandoning a plan to allow passengers to carry small knives, souvenir bats, golf clubs and other sports equipment onto planes in the face of fierce congressional and industry opposition, the head of the agency said Wednesday.

By scuttling the plan to drop the knives and sports equipment from TSA's list of prohibited items, the agency can focus its attention on other priorities, including expanding its Pre-Check program to identify ahead of time travelers who don't pose a security risk, TSA Administrator John Pistole told The Associated Press.
