Well I finally got this one after years of waiting. Came in from NRT/RJAA and FAI/PAFA and is apparently doing some relief work for Hati...
Enjoy

It honestly looks like you cloned the middle of the fuselage. Honestly. Crazy engines and gear.
Sweet shot, otherwise!

Departed for neighboring Dominicana (SDQ) at 4:42am. I found strange it would land in PAP.
Made a comment on how it looks like a graceful giant whale with wings. Then Senga B told me: no way you're crazy! That looks just like my favorite spacecraft from Star Trek! hahaha
(just kidding Senga) :)

It looks like it's due back into MIA again tomorrow - it's in IAH at the moment, then coming to MIA tomorrow and leaving MIA for South America at 2am on Saturday - now - hopefully there is some good fortune in the offing tomorrow - good weather, good light, the ability to get out of the office this time :)

We already missed the "interim" colors... (blue cheat line). It does look pretty good now though, I agree. Now if we could just get an AN-22 to fly across the Atlantic.....

Ivan, are you a Miami local? Not sure if you came across the site after I linked this thread on the flightaware discussion where you posted these photos, but it would be great to see pics of anything cool that might show up at KMIA.
Just like on the flightaware discussion, I'm so in love with the angle on the 4th shot. It shows how massive the plane is in all directions!

Tom, I hope it never goes to JFK again so you and Senga don't have to "chase it" around. Trying to make life easier on you guys and save you from the stress lol

Yes getting a AN-22 into the collection would be a significant accomplishment. Shooting the AN-22 would make any future shot of the AN-225 meaningless and almost child's play. The AN225 is just a glorified AN-124 with a Klingon Warship for a tail.
Mario,
There won't be any stress. I already shot the plane on 5-6 different occasions and two different airports :)

You FAIL brother B. I don't know that the AN-22 is flying around anymore but if it did I'd put the <S>uper SengaB suit on and try to get it  8)

You can't fail at what you have not tried to get it :)
January 2010? :)
The chance of us getting it into the US for ANYTHING?...probably never.
Russia AF,
ADB is apparently still flying one as well.

So the Russian AF is flying this giant ugly dinosaur (which I think is beautiful). The double tail and propellers always caught my attention. I'd much rather see it in civilian ADB paint.
I don't know if it's ever been to North America, but it used to pop up at European airports once in a while.

2010-02-18, 09:53 PM
Yes I prefer to see it in ADB colors myself. All one can hop for is one of these airshows in the US would do a theme called something like "Year of the Russians" or something.

The Russians do not generally think of many things on their own but on the occasion that a light bulb goes off between swills of vodka they do some impressive stuff and go for the extreme. If they could afford to as a nation better fund programs the way we do here state side I think we would be getting out butt whooped left and right in the aviation sector.

Srq, have you read about what the Buran/Energia space program? The Russian Buran on paper was much more capable and versatile than the US Shuttle. Might have been an obvious copy, but it sounded more advanced than NASA's.
Of course all shelved as the USSR was bankrupt, so we'll never know how it would have truly performed.
Had Russia been capitalist since the 70's, Airbus might have gone out of business, Embraer wouldn't exist and Boeing might not have dominated for as long as it did. Despite communist technology, many of their aircraft are still useful today.
