This season has so far been very bad for the Western Plains. A little over a month ago, and tornado took several lives in Holly, Colorado (just West of Kansas).

Conditions this spring have been extremely favorable for the development of these storms. I live right along the front range of the Rockies in Colorado, and we've had two large snowstorms in April. This Saturday I was out playing golf, 65 degrees when we started, and about 30 minutes later a front moved through, dropped temps to just above freezing, with hail, groupel, and rain/snow mix, all in a T'storm. That night we picked up 4 inches of snow. The temperature gradient has been real strong, contributing to all these storms... One day it's 80 and sunny, the next 30 and snowy...
