The rioters are animals, as are the French politicians who have caused the problem.
A lot of people have forecasted the pillaging of Europe by all the African and Middle Eastern immigrants they are allowing to flood in, but no one knew the first battle would happen so soon. In our lifetime it seems much of Europe will be taken over by Muslims.
And France thought staying out of the Iraq conflict would keep these guys happy.

Its very interesting and you bring up a great point Gotham. I find it very interesting, Hitler took power by totally legal means and now Middle Eastern influence is sweeping across Europe. I wonder how soon it moves into Gov't? 50 years from now if its not curtailed you may very well see an Islamic state in Western Europe.

Although I don't know the area of Paris all that well, I still don't understnad hwo police have been unable to control the crowd yet. How tough is it to put on riot gear, surround the area and march inward?

I think they're waiting for the US to save them again. The NYPD could put an end to this in about 45 minutes.
From my understanding, the rioters are controlled by radical Muslim clerics. They riot every year, and rather than putting them in jail, the French simply beg the clerics to call off their dogs, and after a day or two the clerics get them to stop, showing the French how powerful they are and that they deserve a place in the government. These areas are sort of a dirty little secret for France, which has touted itself as a place where immigrants can easily integrate into French society, but in reality, there simply aren't any jobs for them, especially those who don't speak French. They are relegated to these ghetto towns around Paris which are mostly ignored by cops. Overall unemployment hovers around 30% in these areas, 60% for young people. (France's total unemployment is around 10%.)
I think once they finally get their **** together, the tactics they resort to will be uglier than anything they've joyfully accused us of doing in Iraq.

This is benign right now compared to what it might turn into in coming years.
The mobs aren't going to Paris proper just yet and slaughtering lots of people.
France has gotten itself quite a problem now. High unemployment and the non-integrated population is breeding like rabits.
The clerics calm the rioters? This is where Ayatollah K spent his time in exile.
I am sure the police could bring this to a close right away - but the "leaders" are talking about "opening up a dialogue" - so don't hold your breath. They'll get more of the same since they don't seem to have a grasp on naked agression and property rights.

Pat Buchanan published a book a couple years ago which I bought called The Death of the West (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312302592/qid=1131418572/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-7474849-4152144?v=glance&s=books&n=507846), essentially predicting the fall of Western Civilization in the next 50-100 years, due simply to the fact that Europeans and European-ancestored Americans just aren't having kids anymore, combined with the massive influx of foreigners who have lots of kids into Europe and America. His views on the Holocaust and other issues have made him a controversial figure, but regardless if you agree with him or not, he is one of the great intellectually honest political thinkers of our time.
Below is an essay about the Paris riots and how they relate to history and the future.
Paris Burning: How Empires End
by Patrick J. Buchanan
Posted Nov 7, 2005
The Romans conquered the barbarians—and the barbarians conquered Rome.
So it goes with empires. And comes now the penultimate chapter in the history of the empires of the West.
This is the larger meaning of the ritual murder of Theo Van Gogh in Holland, the subway bombings in London, the train bombings in Madrid, the Paris riots spreading across France. The perpetrators of these crimes in the capitals of Europe are the children of immigrants who were once the colonial subjects of the European empires.
At this writing, the riots are entering their 12th night and have spread to Rouen, Lille, Marseille, Toulouse, Dijon, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Cannes, Nice. Thousands of cars and buses have been torched and several nursery schools fire-bombed. One fleeing and terrified woman was doused with gasoline and set ablaze.
The rioters are of Arab and African descent, and Muslim. While almost all are French citizens, they are not part of the French people. For never have they been assimilated into French culture or society. And some wish to remain who and what they are. They live in France but are not French.
The rampage began October 27 when two Arab youths, fleeing what they mistakenly thought was a police pursuit, leapt onto power lines and were electrocuted. The two deaths ignited the riots.
Interior Minister Nicholas Sarkozy, a candidate to succeed President Chirac, is said to have infuriated and inflamed the rioters. Before the rampage began, he promised “war without mercy” on crime in the teeming suburbs where unemployment runs at 20% and income is 40% below the national average. He has denounced the rioters as “scum” and “rabble.”
Like the urban riots in America in the 1960s, which the Kerner Commission blamed on “white racism,” Paris’s riots are being blamed on France’s failure to bring Islamic immigrants into the social and economic mainstream of the nation. Solutions being offered range from voting rights for non-citizens to affirmative action in hiring for the children of Third World immigrants.
To understand why this is unlikely to solve France’s crisis, consider how America succeeded, and often failed, in solving her own racial crisis.
While, as late as the 1950s, black Americans were not integrated fully into our economy or society, they had been assimilated into American culture.
They worshipped the same God, spoke the same language, had endured the same Depression and war, listened to the same music and radio, watched the same TV shows, laughed at the same comedians, went to the same movies, ate the same foods, read the same books, magazines and newspapers, and went to schools where, even when they were segregated, they learned the same history.
We were divided, but we were also one nation and one people. Black folks were as American as apple pie, having lived in our common land longer than almost every other ethnic group save Native Americans. And America had a history of having assimilated immigrants in the tens of millions from Europe.
But no European nation has ever assimilated a large body of immigrant peoples, let alone people of color. Moreover, the African and Islamic peoples pouring into Europe—there are 20 million there now—are, unlike black Americans, strangers in a new land, and millions wish to remain proud Algerians, Muslims, Moroccans.
These newcomers worship a different God and practice a faith historically hostile to Christianity, a traditionalist faith that is rising again and recoils violently from a secular culture saturated in sex.
Severed from the civilization and cultures of their parents, these Arab and Muslim youth may hold French citizenship and carry French passports, but they are no more French than Americans who live in Paris are French. Searching for a community to which they can truly belong, they gravitate to mosques where the imams, many themselves immigrants, teach and preach that the West is not their true home, but a civilization alien to their values and historically hostile to their nations and Islam.
The soaring Muslim population is a Fifth Column inside Europe.
Nevertheless, their numbers must grow. For not only do they have a higher birth rate than the native-born Europeans, no European nation, save Moslem Albania, has a birth rate (2.1 births per woman) that will enable it to endure for many more generations. The West is aging, shrinking, and dying.
Yet, to keep Europe’s economy growing and taxes coming in to fund the health and pension programs of Europe’s rising numbers of retired and elderly, Europe needs scores of millions of new workers. And Europe can only find them in the Third World.
Nor should Americans take comfort in France’s distress. By 2050, there will be 100 million Hispanics in the United States, half of them of Mexican ancestry, heavily concentrated in a Southwest most Mexicans still believe by right belongs to them.
Colonization of the mother countries by subject peoples is the last chapter in the history of empires—and the next chapter in the history of the West—that is now coming to a close.
Mr. Buchanan is a nationally syndicated columnist and author of The Death of the West, The Great Betrayal, and A Republic, Not an Empire.

Riots in France
Nov 8, 2005
by Thomas Sowell
Riots that began on the outskirts of Paris have spread into the center of the French capital and to other communities in other parts of the country. Thousands of cars have been set on fire and the police and even medical personnel have been shot at.
Like many other riots, whether in France or elsewhere, this one started over an incident that just happened and was then seized upon to rally resentments and unleash violence. Two local boys in a predominantly Moslem neighborhood tried to escape the police by hiding in a facility that transmitted electricity -- and accidently electrocuted themselves.
This was the spark that ignited volatile emotions. But those emotions were there, ready to be ignited, for a long time.
A substantial Moslem population lives in France but is not really of France. Much of that population lives in social isolation in housing projects away from the center of Paris, as unknown to many Parisians as to tourists.
Like housing projects in America, many of these are centers of social degeneration, lawlessness and violence. Three years ago, profound British social critic Theodore Dalrymple wrote of "burned-out and eviscerated carcasses of cars everywhere" in these projects, among other signs of social degeneration. This was in an essay titled "The Barbarians at the Gates of Paris" that is reprinted in his insightful book, "Our Culture, What's Left of it."
While Dr. Dalrymple called this Moslem underclass "barbarians," a French minister who called the rioters "scum" provoked instant outrage against himself, including criticism from at least one member of his own government. This squeamishness in word and deed, and the accompanying refusal to face blatant realities is also a major part of the background for the breakdown of law and order and the social degeneration that follows.
None of this is peculiar to France. It is a symptom of a common retreat from reality, and from the hard decisions that reality requires, not only in Europe but also in European offshoot societies like Canada, Australia, New Zealand -- and the United States of America.
European countries especially have thrown their doors open to a large influx of Moslem immigrants who have no intention of becoming part of the cultures of the countries to which they immigrate but to recreate their own cultures in those countries.
In the name of tolerance, these countries have imported intolerance, of which growing antisemitism in Europe is just one example. In the name of respecting all cultures, Western nations have welcomed people who respect neither the cultures nor the rights of the population among whom they have settled.
During the last election, some campus Republicans who were holding a rally for President Bush at San Francisco State University were harassed by Middle Eastern students, including a woman who walked up to one of these Americans and slapped his face. They knew they could do this with impunity.
In Michigan, a Moslem community loudly sounds their calls to prayer several times a day, without regard to whether that sound bothers the original inhabitants of the community.
The Dutch were shocked when one of their film-makers was assassinated by a Moslem extremist for daring to have views at variance with what the extremists would tolerate.
No one should have been shocked. There are people who will not stop until they get stopped -- and much of the media, the political classes, and the cultural elites of the West cannot bring themselves to even criticize, much less stop, the dangers or degeneracy among groups viewed sympathetically as underdogs.
Not all Moslems, nor necessarily a majority of Moslems, are either a cultural or a physical danger. But even "moderate" Moslem organizations in the West who deplore violence and try to discourage it nevertheless encourage their followers to remain foreigners rather than become part of the countries they live in.
So do our own intelligentsia and political and cultural elites. Balkanization has been glorified as "diversity" and diversity has become too sacred to defile with anything so gross as hard facts. But reality is not optional. Our survival may in the long run be as menaced by degeneration within -- from many sources and in many ways -- as was that of the Roman Empire.
