Joe, any sudden loss of hearing is considered hearing impaired. My term of impairment is Profoundly Deaf. I am "truly" and "legally" deaf when I have lost 100% of my hearing. I have only lost 80%, and with my hearing aids in, I hear about 40 percent more, so yes you are right, I should state myself as Hearing Imapired.

I used deaf because most people, general public associate people who wear hearing aids as a DEAF PERSON. Which is not even true.

Hope this makes it clear for others.
